Editorial Assignment 4- Mule Baseball

I checked out the 70-200 2.8, which turned out to be a total bust. First off the auto focus wasn’t working correctly so I took all these in manual, which I do prefer more ,but not when it comes to a sport. So, to combat this I just focused on a certain base or area of the diamond to capture the action. As a result I didn’t capture as much as I would have liked. Secondly, the focal length wasn’t long enough, I was wishing the whole time that I had more magnification. Theres a game saturday that I plan on going to and this time I’ll definately bring the 300 mm. Did some minor touch ups in lightroom, mostly just cropped them down though. Update- I went to a second game over the weekend and used the 300mm tamron, auto focus worked but wasn’t as fast as I thought it would be. Overall, got more action shots.
Creative Assignment 3 – Junkyard HDR

Luckily I got my hands on the 11-18 wide angle and the 90mm macro tamrons, so I could experiment more with HDR’s. On my last attempt I focused on architecture but this time around I didn’t want a central theme really, I just wanted to utilize the lenses I rented. So I guess you could divide the shoot in half with wide angle junkyard and macro. Also, I didn’t do much manipulation on the images after I convereted it to hdr last time, only a few minor changes in lightroom. However, on this assignment I edited contrast, color hues/saturation, vibrance, etc.

This is my first attempt at High Dynamic Range (HDR) Photography, I used a beta hdr specific program called wukong to merge 3-9 images, where I also tone mapped them. I found an excellent tutorial online
This tutorial gives you a step by step process of creating your own HDR photographs using cs2, if you wanna use a different program like I did, simply google it and you’ll most likely find what your looking for.

Used a large softbox on the alien bees with a gold reflector, also did some minor touch ups in lightroom. Make note of the reflections in the eyes, they kick ass- at least I think so.
